Wanaka is a popular ski and summer resort town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand.

It is the gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park.

Wanaka is home to 7,390 people as of the June 2015 estimate

The area around Wanaka is a formal sub-region of the Central Otago wine region with several top wineries and vineyards.

As with other parts of the wine region, the main grape variety in the area is pinot noir.

If you would like to know more about Wanaka

  1. I haven’t made it ‘across the ditch’ yet. If ever I do, I’ll be over here to check out all your NZ posts first. They are very inspirational and full of information… Oh yes, and excellent images, too… 🙂
