September 2017 – Day 27

If there were no restrictions such as money or employment, where would you most like to live?

It still would not matter what restrictions, it still wouldn’t change my mind, I would still be living and farming in Taranaki NZ even if it meant having another income to survive.

You just take on any employment as long as it brings in some income to the home every week, as farming is not like everyone thinks, you do not make a large income with farming, you still need two incomes to survive to pay the  mortgage and all the farm expenses, and especially if you have children, schooling eats into your savings if you can manage to save.

Most farmers live on a borderline unless the farm has been handed down from parents, even then it is still a challenge.

  1. Thanks for sharing these links, Elsie. I look forward to reading them.

Other than the Kings and the Hawes, I don’t know of any wealthy farmers. All of them struggle to make ends meet. Here in our area, it is always feast or famine in regards to the water…droughts and floods. I don’t know how they do it, year after year, but the farmers are a sturdy, determined lot and for that, I am very thankful.

I think it is great that you would want to be where you’ve always been, truly home. That is wonderful. 🙂

Thanks for participating in the challenge. Have a blessed day. 🙂
