Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie’, Saturday Mix #LuckyDip
The challenge today, is to write a Triolet poem about your own country. For an added layer to the challenge, you may also include a historical event or controversy as part of your poem.
What is a Triolet Poem?
A Triolet is a poem of fixed rhythmical form, with repeated lines. It is made up of eight lines with a set rhyming scheme.
The Structure of a Triolet Poem
A Triolet consists of 8 lines.
The rhyming scheme is:
AB, aA, abAB
Line 1, 4 and 7 are the same line repeated
So are lines 2 and 8.
Summer in New Zealand 2018 Triolet Poem
Summer weather in New Zealand 2018 so hot and muggy
People driving to the swimming pools and beaches
Children moody and grizzling, not sleeping at night
Summer weather in New Zealand 2018 so hot and muggy
Ground dry, no grass growing, cows going dry, no milk
Streams drying up, no frogs or insects, too hot for them
Summer weather in New Zealand 2018 so hot and muggy
People hurrying to the swimming pools and beaches
so fun to read your Triolet poem and learn of this pattern. 🙂 and you really grabbed the summer heat with words….

Thanks for commenting, yes summers always nice, but some days it is overpowering, my old body is starting to feel a bit rugged. Hope you are having a great weekend.

Well done Elsie. I can relate to your poem,..the reason I spend the holiday period away from the crowds in the outback…hot but quiet:)

Interesting structure to the poem, Elsie; I’ve not heard of this before.
Yes, summer can be all of what you’ve written; and then it can be very pleasant. At the moment we are having a heat wave, then cooler days! Poor weather; it doesn’t know what to do…
Hope you had a pleasant weekend.. 🙂
