“Given the choice between the experience of pain and nothing, I would choose pain.” ― William Faulkner

Pain or Nothing

Must be pain
choice pain or nothing
it would have to be pain
if it was nothing, I would be dead
Midnight Blue

Author note: I agree with William Faulkner, but there are so many forms of pain like all the emotions in life, physical pain, but whatever it is, I would get through it as I have for nearly eighty years. My color of choice was a Shade of black.

If you were writing this Sidlak poem what color would you have picked?

Sidlak Poetry – is a structured poetry consisting of five lines with 3-5-7-9 syllables and a color. The last line must be a color that describes the whole poem or the feeling of the writer.

    • Thanks for replying, I couldn’t decide what color to add to this poem, I thought black, but I remembered when I had a ectopic pregnancy and nearly lost my life, I was tumbling down a black hole , so I didn’t want to add black, but white, now thinking about it, it would most likely have been the right color, never mind by asking the question it gives the reader something to comment about. All the best for a peaceful week my friend.

  1. good food for thought. pain in life is pretty much inescapable, so may as well get used to it. a blessing much of the time is it’s intermittent. relentless pain would be a separate consideration for me.
